2010Good Morning Class of 1968:
Hope 2010 is all you are anticipating. Well, the weather in New York
is cold and we have approximately 14 inches of week old snow on the ground. Of course word is Roanoke was snowed under
and just maybe the remaining snow is awaiting a fresh batch.
All and all, we are here to see it. Recently,
a conversation was held with a couple of friends regarding our rapidly approaching the age of 60. It seems that just
yesterday, our parents were in their 60's and we were the carefree members of the sandwich generation. We were young
enough to parent a generation of teenagers and rapidly approaching young adults and yet had the agility and energy to mirror
young adults of twenty plus. "Those were the days my Friends!" However, I find the rapidly approaching
golden age to be one of great delight. There are special aspects which include grand-parenting, retirement, vacationing,
traveling, reestablishing my commitment to my religious connection, conversing with friends about the days back when, and
"just being" plain thankful to read, watch television, spend time on the computer communicating with people and
traveling to foreign places and around the United States, reading and watching various aspects of news medias,
researching, renewing old friendships, establishing new ones and most importantly, being ever so grateful to experience
a new day. Oh, I must not forget the companions which come to visit such as arthritis, stiffness of the joints,
a little forgetfulness, and of course the other little medical conditions which quite often wait to visit individuals later
in life. The ones we learn to live with or hope that modern medicine has evolved enough to address or alleviate.
Well as stated earlier, "I am just glad to be here earthbound and to awake up to spend another
day anticipating the unexpected which will include unimaginable blessings!"
Enjoy this day.
It belongs to each of us 60, 60 plus or rapidly approaching 60 years.
